Skipton Building Society Mortgage Application process

Currently having difficulties with Skipton mortgage application. Although all good with the financial approval/credit check side (we are only borrowing a low amount and putting down a sizeable deposit). We then received news that the Skipton’s valuation of the property was coming in some £20,000 lower than our agreed purchase price. After investigation we discovered they had under valued property due to this being carried out without any sight visit and done without taking into account a two storey extension completed in 2011 by the current owners. We contested this and requested a re-valuation. A new value was established, however this all caused a two week delay. We were then advised that our Solicitor wasn’t on the Skipton’s panel (even though they thought they were) and would need to be approved (another delay). Was then told mortgage offer would be received yesterday only to be advised today that the Valuation Surveyor was not an approved surveyor (despite the fact that they themselves (Skipton) arranged the valuation survey!) so, yet another delay. Anyone else experiencing problems like this?

Hi, the company has asked for a right of reply. MSE doesn't endorse anything a company says on the Forum:
“Hi Vandermills, we are sorry to hear about the experience you have had in regards to your mortgage application. Please can you email our team at onlinecontact@skipton.co.uk and we can investigate this further for you. Thanks, Joe @ Skipton Building Society.”
