Windows 10 pro !..Minimised Chrome tabs show thumbnails when mouse hovered over any tab?..need help

Options
HI all
I was wondering if anyone can kindly help me sort my old PC out please ??  & please mind my mistakes in my words / terminology as this is my 1st thread in over 10 years....
I have a PC with the following specs.....
1) Windows 10 Pro
2) System : 64 bit O/system x 64
3) RAM : 16.6 GB
4) Processor : Pentium (R) Dual-core 3.00 GhZ

The problem I am having is that i have chrome as my internet browser & i like to open several windows (just to multi task) together and then minimise them, which stay in the task bar. Whilst the these windows are minimised, when i hover over mouse, it shows thumbnails of all the minimised tabs. In other words, Say i have 7 chrome windows minimised, so when i take my mouse over any minimised chrome window or any other minimised window, it will show thumbnails of all the other minimised windows too Not  just chrome windows. I have tried lot and lot and even change setting but no luck at all. I do not want the thumbnails to show AT ALL when i hover over mouse on any of the minimised windows in the task bar.
Can anyone PLEASE help me with how can i sort the problem out ?
I thank you
Kind Regards
AK

Yeah its supposed to do that.

    But Windows 10 pro:
Press WINDOWS + R. Type "gpedit.msc" without quotes and press ENTER. Click "Administrative Templates" under "User Configuration" Click "Start and taskbar" Double click "Disable taskbar previews" Click "Enable", then  Click "Apply" Reboot computer.

    Try this:
Failing this see the original post in the linked Superuser thread and a couple of other things to try.

If that doesn't work there was a big thread on Microsoft's site which seems to suggest it can't be disabled and its by design.
  • Hi All,
Thank you for so many suggestions. @Neil your option (creating a DWORD") enter worked big time. now it dont show the thumbnails but the list of all IE windows open. below is the entry :
<span>HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband -Name "NumThumbnails" -Value 0 -PropertyType "DWord"<br></span>Though i am not able to find the value option & property type option. i can't locate them. I even tried right-clicking on NumThumbnails option but no luck. ., just wish even the list of all the minimised windows was also gone (just like the thumbnails. ....hahahaha...i think i am pushing my luck too far.
Thank you all you who responded with concern.
    Thank and regrads,....
  • hi all...
The thumbnails are gone by hovering the mouse over the minimised task bar tabs....but instead of the thumbnails, now it shows the details of all the tabs open.....any solution to this that when mouse hover on any minimised tab in the task bar, nothing should happen...no thumbnail, no texts etc.
    Many thanks

I think you're missing the whole point of the feature of the taskbar in Windows 10.  Because web browsers are tabbed, the idea is that you can switch between tabs automatically without the need to go into the app first and then switch tab.  With regards to the explorer and programs, again its designed to switch between multiple Explorer windows and/or multiple instances of programs.

This behaviour has been around to an extent since the days of Vista, so unless you've come straight to 10 from Windows XP, it shouldn't be new to you?
