Am i right in thinking my insurance that ran out in may won't cover me deciding not to go to my spanish hotel in september (booked last october) because of FCO advice? I'm sure this has been covered many times but i can't find it.

If you don't have insurance then no, it won't cover you for anything.1

OK then, my new insurance started in june/July won't cover me will it?0

Not for a straightforward change of mind, no.0

Ok it just confuses me when the sequence is: oct 19 hotel booked, march 20 pandemic, may 20 insurance runs out, jun20 new insurance starts, aug 20 FCO advises against travel to spain. Does it just come down to my decision to take FCO advice?0

If your insurance covers you for FOS advice, then you'll be covered.
You need to read your policy.0 -
Did you renew an annual policy with the same company? If you did then you could be covered. That wouldn’t apply if you had a gap.0

my original insurance company wasn't selling products when i needed to renew - still isn't as far as i know. The new one won't cover me. i might end up going despite FCO advice with no insurance cover.0

For Spain, EHIC will cover you for local treatment. You won't have cover for repatriation or if you need to extend your stay.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. In can only find an exclusion for cancellation, repatriation & extended stay due to covid. does this mean that staysure would cover us for everything else? (i mean is that what you would expect).0

After a couple of hours i've discovered the clause that says they won't cover for anything if we travel against fco advice!0
