AP on Experian

I just got my credit reports from Experian and Equifax. On the former my score is “Very Poor” and on the latter it’s “Excellent”. It appears that I have had an AP marker (?) against an old Barclays account for 3 years. I had no recollection of this but the bank contacted me recently to say that the account was in default so I settled immediately. It appears that this has completely screwed my credit rating with Experian. Can anyone explain/help?

Lenders report to different CRAs. While the scores the CRAs give you can be ignored, the data will be used to make lending decisions.
