Ltd Company / Sole Trader Furlough.

Hello I am new to the money saving expert forum. I was just wondering if anybody knew the answer to this.
I run a limited company with one other person.
Our company has been adversely affected by COVID-19. As a result we have been on furlough for the PAYE section of our pay for the majority of this period..
Are we allowed to work as a sole trader alongside our limited company doing separate work? Whilst at the same time still claiming our furlough amount.

It's a bit of a grey area. You could do totally different work, that you have never done through the company, but to do the same work as you would normally route through the company may be considered as abusing the furlough system. After all, if you have work to do then why isn't the company doing it? Particularly when flexible furlough is available for part time working.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
