Switched to Shell Energy, but haven't got back the saving I had been quoted
Good Afternoon,
A couple of weeks ago I had an email from MSE stating about the savings that can be made by switching Energy providers, even if you're already with that current one.
The figure quoted that I could save would be £267 per year.
I've received confirmation from Shell Energy today, with regards to the new account, and working out how much this will equate to over the year, the actually come down figure will only equal a saving of £87 per year.
Has anybody else shared this disappointment with the promised figures not working out correct?
Kind regards,
Dave

The figure of £267 will be based on the assumption that when your fix finished you would revert to a standard rate. It's a silly assumption we all know and is really only true if you have never switched but that's what the switching sites have been told to do.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
Thank you for your quick reply Robin9, although I must admit I'm a little baffled by how the switching sites can give estimates, and not actuals. Maybe I'm not quite switched on myself

Would reckon quite a few people have suffered disappointment also by not checking existing rates and standing charges when switching to a new tariff. And only checking the £££

If you look on the tariff information at the top of MSE i presume you go on cheap energy club, it gives you the option to compare the savings based either on your existing tariff savings or standard when your deals end. The saving or totally different. The standard presumes you do nothing and go on a high tariff with your supplier.Kriminal said:Good Afternoon,

As usual, dozy Ofgem is to blame for this nonsense.0

You are still saving money though OP so hardly a huge issue.0

There's no guarantee of that. If the OP was near the end of a fix, the comparison site could easily show a saving for a more expensive tariff.bradders1983 said:You are still saving money though OP so hardly a huge issue.
Ignore savings figures, check the price!!!1
