ISO Advice: Scented walkway

Hello all, I have recently dug out and laid a new garden path (photo attached). I would like to arrange for the path to be a scented/fragrant walk way. I would be grateful for advice on: (i) what to plant along either side of the pictured path to achieve variety and year round interest; and (ii) how many plants I will need…

I can't really do more than say anchor plants are those that give permanent structure to any planting scheme. Some plants come and go; for example, along some of my pathways woodruff forms a mat, but it's not visible in winter, so it's not fully structural. The ajuga is still there all year round, so it is.
