Hi all, I’m hoping to get some advice on what is best to do about an upcoming city break to Amsterdam I have had booked with last minute.com before coronavirus. It is booked for the first weekend of October and I originally booked by paying a deposit of £80 and chose to pay the remainder (£265), a month before travelling. So the remainder is due by 3rd September (next week) and the Netherlands are now advising against all but essential travel. However the package hasn’t been cancelled and I’m wondering whether I should pay the last payment. I have tried contacting lastminute.com with no luck, which when I’ve researched is very common for everyone else who has booked with them and some have even been waiting 6 months for a refund with no communication from them whatsoever. Also when I’ve checked flights to Amsterdam they still seem to be flying.

My dilemma is that I don’t want to pay the remaining £265 and not get it back along with the deposit which seems to be happening to everyone else at the moment. But also if I cancel now I will lose the deposit and have to pay a cancellation fee which I don’t know how much this is as I can’t get in contact with them. Does anyone have any advice on what is best to do in this situation?

Thanks :)

Make the payment , let them cancel and refund.

Things could change by October and you could travel

Don't pay it then and see if they get in touch.
At least you are only in for 80 sovs, some people are awaiting thousands back.
You might find they change the balance due date to only three weeks before travel that's what they did with me.
customercare@lastminute.com is an avenue for communication.
In theory as a good ABTA member with the FCO advisory in place they will grant you a full refund of any monies paid.
In practice don't look on Trustpilot !!!

    How did you pay ?

    I agree with previous advice.
  • I paid by credit card originally and the balance is due to come off of the same card next week.

I take it they have a record of the card number etc ?
  • They will probably just take it anyway.  Doubt the bank will withhold payment as that is what you agreed to.   If you cancel now you will still be liable to the fees set out in the t's and c's, which could be more than the £80 deposit.
