Hello. I need help fast, sorry if this sounds desperate but I am. Another coronavirus tale but I’m really really worried. Prior to coronavirus, I was earning almost £2500-£3000 per month. Had two jobs and was doing alright. I have debts, total approx £20,000 mainly loans and a credit card debt. Then, March 16th, I became ill with cv19 symptoms. This was before lockdown or any bank holidays etc. I rang all my creditors to tell them what happened. All were sympathetic and monitored the situation. Then Lockdown and holidays in payments etc. My 2nd job I had been laid off and 1st job furloughed. First job barely covered my debts etc, so I was grateful for payment holidays thinking all would be over in three months. But this proved otherwise and when the holidays ended, so my payments have now started back again. Barclays informed me that because I informed them I was ill on the 16th March, this was pre holiday, so they placed an arrangement, which suspend my payment and shows on my file. I’m way over my head in debt, have arranged payment with the credit card, had to lie to Barclays to stop my account going into default I just don’t know what to do. I had an antibody text done and it showed I did have cv19. My health is not quite the same. Can anyone advise me please. Thank you

I wonder if something like this would help https://www.stepchange.org/debt-info/debt-and-coronavirus.aspx. Maybe you could use the contact us tab at the top of the page. There is also the debtfreewannabe board on this site https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/debt-free-wannabe as there may be room for manouvre with your budget. You'd need to list all your income, debts and outgoings and wait for suggestions on things that can be cut back.0

I would suggest posting an SOA on the DFW board so people can give you some practical advice about your budget. There are also charities like stepchange who can help.
You mention you are still unfortunately suffering the after effects of covid. Will you be able to return to work after furlough ends or will your health prevent this? It may also be worth looking into what benefits you would be entitled to to see where you will be financially in the long term.1 -
Have you been claiming any welfare benefits available to you to give yourself some income?Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0
