Shop Direct and Lowell both show same debt on credit report.

Options
Hi
On my credit report I have 2 defaults from Shop Direct and Lowell for the same debt. I’ve nearly cleared the debt now and this shows on the Lowell default but the Shop Direct account shows the full debt. I also believe the date of the default is about a year to late. However, I’m having trouble with Very has I have moved multiple times since this debt and no longer have any correspondence from them so I could check the dates.

Can I have the same debt on my credit report twice ?

How can I find out when I originally defaulted on the debt with Shop Direct ?

Thanks in advance.

You don’t have two defaults, an account can only default once.
The shop direct entry should show the default date, and a zero balance.
The Lowell entry should show the same default date, and the outstanding balance.
Its all above board, and correctly shown, it’s because the debt has been sold on, it’s just the one default, showing the debts status with the old creditor, and the new.
If you believe it should have defaulted earlier, make a complaint to shop direct.

  • Hi

    Thanks for your reply.

I’m using ClearScore it’s shows a Shop Direct as me still owing the full amount not zero. Lowell is showing the correct amount. Both the accounts just say in default with no debt. When I click on them neither account shows a missed payment. However on my ClearScore timeline it’s shows as June 2016.

    Thanks Again

Ask shop direct to update the balance to zero then if Lowell are now handling it.

Has the Lowell one just appeared on the most recent report? What will happen is just how Sourcrates state, and it could be that Lowell have reported this, but Shop Direct have not yet updated it with the CRA, or they have updated it with Experian rather than Clearscore. Many companies do CRA updates in bulk, so it could be the update date is different.

Check all CRA's if it's showing on all then you need to contact Shop Direct to tell them, if it's on some, then let Clearscore know.
