Jet2 changed holiday duration

So we booked a 10 night holiday with Jet2 for June 2021 back in April.
Got an email today to say they had changed flight schedules and now we have a 7 night holiday for the same price. Or we can have a refund

Do we have any leverage to ask for an alternative 10 night holiday or not sure about our rights

They are supposed to be calling us in the next few days to discuss options. Any advice would be appreciated

Chopping 3 nights off would certainly be a significant change enough to ask for a full refund.

Chopping 3 nights off would certainly be a significant change enough to ask for a full refund. I assume they have cut the flight schedule to your destination meaning 10 night holidays are no longer possible.
  • They have Bradders. Only 1 flight a week now. However when we booked 7nts was cheaper than 10

We ideally would like a 10nt stay and would change destinations (they do still have 10nts available)

Why not take the refund and then look at alternatives? Or I’m sure Jet2Holidays will be happy to move your deposit and any other monies payed to a new holiday with 10 day duration.  You could start looking on their website now for alternatives so you have ideas when you speak to them.

I feel sure that when Jet2 Holidays do reach out to you that they will acknowledge the obvious significant change in your booked holiday and have suggestions for recompense.

You will of course have the right to a refund if you wish.

I suspect they will also offer a discount or partial refund should you wish to still go on the 7-night holiday. Thankfully you have booked with a reputable tour operator who still have a sense of looking after their customers.

Please return to up date the thread once you get to speak to Jet2 Holidays.
  • Thanks Westin
    I'll keep you posted.

In regards to taking the refund and rebooking prices have rocketed up since we booked so we wouldn't get anything like what we had booked now for the same money (we booked at a price of £1750ish for 10 nights. The 7 night holiday to book now is over £2300).

They have said they will be in touch by the end of September so guess we will see what they offer.

Unfortunately I don't think you have any right to a "like for like" 10 night replacement.  Holiday prices are dynamic and change all the time based on a factors.  It's unlikely Jet2 will be able to reprice a holiday back to equivalent prices they were in April.  They might offer a discount on a new booking as a goodwill gesture, but it's likely to be based on the live prices on the day.

You could accept the shorter holiday, in which case they should make a pro-rata refund based on the price you payed.  Or you can accept a refund.  They don't have to do anything more.  Westin is correct, Jet2 are a decent outfit so I'm sure they'll help look at your options.
  • Would a 14 night holiday be an option? You could see what the price difference for that would be.

So Jet2 offered us £253 off the booking cost and take it as a 7nt holiday

£100 off another booking and free change

    Refund of all monies paid

Pretty sure we will take the refund and change it a week. Seems a fair resolution
