Santander PPI difficukty

Options
Hi All, I placed a PPI complaint with Santander last June (2019) and only now have I received a letter saying that they don't think they should uphold my complaint. I got the Debenhsns card in 1998 when I was a student and I was unaware of the PPI added to my account. They have said as I was a student at the time "this may have affected my ability to make a claim on the policy, my eligibility for the policy or its overall appropriateness, but without further information we can not consider whether this is the case".   They now want me to fill in yet another document about my employment status at the time the card was taken out, how many hours I worked etc. I had a part  time job whilst I was a student.

Should it matter if I was a student at thd time, and if so, why was I allowed  the store card? Has anybody got any advice or had the same experience? I don't want to shoot myself in the foot.
Thanks

Emma

Being a student increases the chance off it being mis sold. They're asking you to support that point

You can provide the information to support your complaint or you can give up at this point, and leave then to make their decision on what you've already sent.

With regard to your other question, you were allowed the store card because you passed their risk criteria. Students were not excluded.

You cannot say you were unaware. You will have signed to say you had read and understood all the terms and conditions.
The amount of ppi would have been stated on a seprate line on every month.

make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

    That seems entirely reasonable.

Should it matter if I was a student at thd time, and if so, why was I allowed  the store card?

Yes it is the difference between a successful complaint and a rejected one.   Whether you should or shouldn't have a card is another matter and not one they are addressing.

Has anybody got any advice or had the same experience?

    yes

I don't want to shoot myself in the foot.

Tell the truth and don't be difficult with them.
