PIP form

Options
I filled in my PIP form (new claimant), last month. I had a text message, they have received it.
How long do I have to wait for paper based, F2F, etc. I realise it's covid-19 and things are held up.
Thanks

No definite answer. At the moment it is most likely that you will have a telephone assessment and they will try and make a decision based on that.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

Is there a length of time, I need to wait before contacting PIP people if I haven't heard anything?
    Thanks

As previously advised there's no definite answer because there's no timescales. It wouldn't be DWP you contact anyway, it's the health assessment providers, until the assessment report is returned to DWP it's nothing to do with them.
You only returned the form last month and it can potentially take several months for a successful claim.

You could ring the number  you rang to start the claim and ask what the timescales are in your area. Might get a answer, might not.
When we did ours paperwork was received in Dec, but did not get a appointment till end of Jan. But a lot has changed in the last few months.

As the assessments are nothing to do with DWP i would say they would have no idea of the timescales for those. To be perfectly honest, it's rather a waste of time ringing and waiting in the queue for something they can't answer.

The number you ring to start the claim is only used for taking claims. Any follow up calls you want to make need to be to a different. However, as poppy says, on this subject a call at this stage will be pointless.

From memory there are options when calling on what you are calling about. But TBH, they will have a better idea than anyone here.
As it's going to depend on the area the OP is in.

Yes indeed they do but as previously advised the assessment process has nothing at all to do with DWP, it's the assessment providers that deal with those. DWP will know as much as anyone here about assessment waiting times....which is nothing at all.

I sent my PIP form away at the end of May. About 10 days ago I had a text saying I would get a telephone assessment last Sunday. I received another text on the Tuesday saying they had received the report and I would get a decision within 8 weeks.
  • My PIP form went at the end of June and I've just had a text to say I'll have a phone assessment next week. Of course it does depend on which area, but just thought it would be useful to have another data point anyway.
