Abellio Greater Anglia Train Refund Issues

Firstly, apologies if this question has been asked numerous times, I've had a look for about 15 minutes trying to find any relevant or recent topic to my own, to no avail.
I recently visited the ticket office at Liverpool Street and to my surprise, was told I am only due a refund of £100, for a season ticket I have not used since March 2020. Today is the first day I have entered the office in London, I have not used my season ticket at all since back in March, even today I purchased a return ticket separately.
Does anyone know who I can take this forward with, and if at all, I have a case? The reason I didnt cancel my ticket in March was simply down to the fact that I didnt know when I would be returning to the office, it could have been a few weeks, or a couple of months. Perhaps stupidly on my part, I didn't see the first day back would be late August. It would have been more cost effective for me to hold onto my season ticket if it had been a few months & I just assumed that it wouldnt be a problem to get a full refund as they can back-date the last time I used the card.
To give you an idea, my season ticket is £4,038 for a year, so to my dismay, I was hoping for something close to £2,000 refund - you can imagine my shock when I was told £100.
I know there is a Rail Ombudsman, but I am yet to get a reply from Greater Anglia via email or post so I don't believe I can forward my claim to them just yet.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hard to say what they are basing the calculations on. If say you purchased it last September, then looks like the figure is based on the purchase date and the date returned for refund? Not actually taking into account the fact it hasn’t been used in 5 months.I think all you can do at moment is wait for a response. As you say they should be able to confirm when the ticket was last used but this may be a different procedure and like everything else these days, needs time!0

The link above says they only back date 56 days.0

Some info in this article but it is 3 months old. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/apr/28/rail-season-ticket-holders-coronavirus-refund
So perhaps meaning should have applied in March?

In general season ticket refunds as well are based on how many monthly and weekly tickets you would have bought for the time actually used, it’s not based on the cost of the season ticket divided by 12. When did the ticket start? If you try to refund in the last 10 weeks of validity you won’t get anything back as the equivalent cost of monthly tickets has been reached.
Use the calculator https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations_destinations/coronavirus_refunds.aspx
i would have asked for the refund back in March, they are only backdating refunds for 56 days so you have lost three months by not acting sooner. https://www.greateranglia.co.uk/contact-us/faqs/refunds/coronavirus-ticket-refund-updateAlso from the 7 September they will stop backdating refunds.
I don’t thInk there is anything else you can do as it’s your inaction since March that has cost you money.
i had a TfL season ticket and called them up as soon as I started working from home to get the refund.0
