UC advance payment not paid back in full after claim closed

About 2 weeks ago my UC claim was closed, but they didn't notify me via email or letter when they did it and I haven't heard anything about the advance payment that I still haven't paid back as I was only on UC for 3 months. How long does it take them to ask me to repay the remaining amount and is it my responsibility to chase it up if they don't ask within a certain timeframe? ie, if I was still on UC this month, then some would have been deducted, because because I am now not claiming, nothing will have been paid back in August at all?

See https://www.gov.uk/guidance/universal-credit-advances#how-the-advance-is-repaid. There is information on paying back the advance about half way down the page.
to be clear - is your claim actually closed or is it just that you are not getting any payments at the moment?Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
I asked for the claim to be closed as I earnt too much after the physical economy reopened and I got the HMRC grant and as I have additional seasonal work (non physically based) from Oct onwards such that I didn't expect I would be eligible to receive any money again within the next 6 months.calcotti said:To be clear was the closing of your UC claim correct? Should you still be getting UC or have your circumstances changed such that you no longer have entitlement?

it is actually closed, the last entry in the journal said it was closed.0 -
Cross post. I realised that from your other thread after I posted and was editing when you posted again. Hopefully the link I have provided will help.theone999 said:

Therefore, you have been notified that the account is closed! It would have been done when you received the message!theone999 said:it is actually closed, the last entry in the journal said it was closed.
When an account is closed and there's an overpayment or advance, it will have been referred to Debt Management. As there's been such a huge uptake of UC, I'm guessing you might be waiting as long as 6 months before they contact you. Best advice is, if you know you owe them money, make sure you save that amount for when they get in contact. If you were paying the advance back at say £20 a month, keep putting that amount away until you have accrued what is owed.1 -
Indeed. All UC communication is via the journal.minimadtrix said:Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
I read some where that they will contact you and ask immediate payment. As above who knows when though.0

It's literally days to pay before they try and humiliate with your boss. Get you the sack ironically! (If you have the wrong boss who doesn't understand) Fortunately mine laughted, said well they have passed it to me as your boss, nothing ever came good out a letter with that logo so stop worrying, don't feel forced into making one payment ill afforded and so they would make them wait 10 months now, for just what they did. I never believed debt could be a good thing to turn things around but turned out it it was. In 10 months I'll save the equivalent additional £30 my employer intends to give back over 10 months so I never need to rely on an advance ever again. Like I say I ended up with a boss who chose not to treat me a like a human punchbag and think I must have clicked for additional maladministration by DWP.0
