Can employer put meon furlough whilst Im already working my full contracted hours?
Ok let me explain. My normal working week is mon to fri working 8hrs per day. Normally if no specific assignment available we either stay home or in the yard, avaialble for work the 8hrs and get paid. Last week my employer told me I was furloughed on the wednesday, however due to the other hours of assignmnets allocated mon, tues, thurs and fri I was already working in excess of the 40 hours contracted. So my question is, can my employer put me on furlough for the day as I am already working over my contracted hours? i.e there is no top up of payments to cover a shortfall and no possibility of receiving any payments. so in theory my employer by stating im on fulrough that day means I actually lose a days wage. Is this even allowed? and yes I appreciate others have been more financially affected in this pandemic
thanks in advance

I have been on furlough previous, my query is basically if Im already working in excess of my contracted hours is my employer able to put me on furlough, despite not actually been eligible for any on that day rather than paying my normal day rate0

I have gained the answer from HMRC now thanks. Basically employers can do this.0

HMRC can't advise on employment law. They can only advise on what your employer can reclaim under cjrs.
What your employer needs to pay you is determined by your contract of employment, not cjrsYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
