Can I run a curtain track across our bay window vents?

Hi, we're having an absolute nightmare finding something good to cover our bay windows, we've tried:
  • Three separate blinds - bit of a faff to have to close all 3 blinds and to be honest we couldn't find any which didn't let any light through the sides where it was fitted awkwardly
  • Two blinds at a weird angle - as above but probably even worse.
  • Curtains running on a metal bendy pole - absolute nightmare to actually run the curtains and they kept getting snagged
  • Blinds & curtains - too much of a faff to have to close both and not as effective as we'd like
  • Curtains on the outside - what we currently have, but our super heavy Next curtains just ripped the rail out of the wall and we've realised that it eats into the room so much... especially since we have a baby's cot on that side now
So I'm looking at yet another option and whilst the cardboard (lol) we're currently using is doing a surprisingly effective job it's obviously not a long term solution.

But our windows are kinda weird, and I'm not sure if we could attach the curtain track to the trickle vents? Is there another option we could consider that I'm missing? We've spent so much time and money on this now and everything is bad :disappointed:

Thank you!

  • I'm unsure of which bit the trickle vents are? Are they the long strips butted up to and perpendicular to the ceiling.

When you tried curtains on a bendy pole, were you using proper curtain rings with hooks etc?  If not, try that.  We have tried a few options - tab tops, curtains with eyelets and proper curtain rings.  Using curtain rings makes the curtains move very easily along the pole, whatever the shape.

Yes the trickle vents (think that’s the right term) are the long strips coming down from the ceiling just in front of the actual window frame - it seems like they’re separate to the windows so I’m not sure how much weight they can carry.

Thanks rach_k, we used eyelets and they were awful so maybe we should’ve persevered and tried other types of curtains! To be honest my wife found the metal bay window curtain pole quite ugly so was glad to have it down, but maybe we can find an alternative she likes (it cost around £200 to buy and have it fitted too, yikes!)

In that case I concur with the bendy rail idea, but I think they may be better fitted to the ceiling.
