AXA Multi Trip Annual booked early Jan 2020 - now seems worthless

Hello, I'm looking for some heads up advice and/or opinions. I bought a multi trip annual worldwide travel insurance policy (silver cover) in early January 2020 to commence from 1st April 2020 up to 31st March 2021. This was mainly to cover a family holiday to Thailand we paid for in January for this July just gone. Thankfully the airline company fully refunded me recently so no need to make a claim. However, due to AXA updating their policy to not cover COVID-19 for any trips booked after March 19th this in my opinion deems my current policy worthless as we are not able to book travel with the freedom to go anywhere as per their updated policy. This is partly because FCO advice will determine if cover is invalid for certain countries, e.g. Spain. And for other countries on the permitted list they may not be where we intend to travel. We booked a trip to Spain early July and FCO advice changed just 3 days before we were due to travel - in this case we have been able to move the dates with the ferry company to the following year. Seems like I have wasted £200 on not alot as one would be taking a risk to book any advance travel right now. Do you think I have any grounds to request some form of compensation, e.g. pro rated refund or extension to the expiry date? I can't seem to find relevant info based on my situation. Anyone else in the same boat?
Thanks, Steve.

If all providers using AXA have the same COVID-19 cover then they will cover certain circumstances relating to COVID-19 like medical cover but won't include FCO advice against travel due to COVID-19.

The OPs problem is he wants to book after AXA had stated  they will cover for covid for holidays booked after 19 th March.
He is wanting to book knowing there is a chance of having to make a claim due to covid.
Insurance covers unexpected events, not known events.
You could ask them to cancel and refund as you cannot use it. It will depend on what the  terms and conditions that  you agreed to say.

You could choose to travel to somewhere that the government doesn't advise against travel.
My insurance policy, which is through my bank, initially said they weren't covering covid for anything booked after march, then recently modified it to include anything booked to somewhere where the FCO doesn't advise against travel. So there is every chance that Axa will do the same, if they haven't done so already.
