Can't invoice buyer from USA

I just sold an item that went for over £200 which was listed in the UK. A bidder won the item who was from the sates, so not sure how that happened. I worked out postage with the royal mail to cover the amount, and went to invoice the buyer and got this weird message. I have no idea what is going on and why Ebay seem to have taken over my choice of postage

The Global Shipping Programme already provides your buyer with an invoice for all applicable item, postage and import charges. Unfortunately, you can't edit these charges, even to offer a P&P discount. When your buyer pays, just send the item to the UK Shipping Centre and the Global Shipping Programme will take care of forwarding it to the buyer. Your buyer will directly pay you the purchase price of the item, plus any domestic postage cost you specified in the listing.

The message you get when you try to invoice is self explanatory. You’ve sold through the GSP so you cannot invoice. When buyer pays all you have to do is ship to the eBay hub, they will show the address and a reference number and you just print that for the address label.

But I didn't opt for the global shipping program. I usually send via Hermes, or sometime Royal Mail. How can they have invoiced a price if they don't even know the weight and dimensions of my parcel ? They are waiting for me to invoice them but I can't because of this error.

GSP a is a box that you tick, it is possible that you haven’t noticed it and that it somehow defaulted on your listing page.

As above though YOU DO NOT INVOICE , eBay do the invoicing and when buyer pays you will get the exact same price as if someone in the UK bought it and you send to the UK eBay hub. EBay send the item on to your buyer but as long as you show delivery at the eBay hub you are covered against an INR.

You're overcomplicating it. Just post to the eBay hub the same way you would post to a UK buyer. eBay will take it from there and sort out forwarding it to the buyer in America.
If ebay assumed the item was 20 grams and it turns out it's 20 kilos, that's on them. And if the item is undeliverable you'll keep your payment and cannot be given negative feedback.

I am still waiting for payment, and I can't invoice myself. I am still also non the wiser if sending to the Ebay hub will cost me.

Hubb, I said this before on other threads , ether you are playing games with us (and I never really ‘get’ written jokes)  or there is something wrong with your account. You’re not new to eBay, you know all this and I can’t understand why you are not reading what is written, it was all explained above you will get the same payment as if you had sold to any other UK buyer. If you don’t get paid within 2 days you can open a NPB .

edit; I just thought, have you got me on ignore, is that why you are ignoring my posts?

I am sorry but I am genuinely asking for help as I have never had  a GSP to deal with before. I am a bit miffed at your frequent suspicions of my posts.

You have all the answers above, there is nothing else to explain you have technically got a UK sale, you cannot invoice and you will , if buyer pays, get the same price as you show on your listing, item price plus UK postage.

    That’s it, nothing more complicated.
