Refund of cinema tickets

We purchased tickets in the foyer at the Odeon just before lockdown. They cost us £64 and were paid for by credit card. Lockdown came and all the shows were cancelled. We rang customer services and they said they couldn’t refund the money because the transaction wasn’t done online. We were advised to hold onto the tickets and go back to the cinema when they reopened to get the refund. Today the Odeon finally opened in our town. We went in with the tickets and they said the system would not allow them to issue a refund because we had left it too long. We asked to see the manager who, after a lengthy debate, took advice and then photographed our tickets and said he would email a department and they would be in touch with us by telephone. He also told us not to bother ringing customer services because it was just had a recorded message and no option to leave our own message. Today’s discussion took 90 minutes and we came away empty handed and frustrated. Is anyone else having this type of problem with ticket refunds and how did you deal with it?

You will the way there systems are set up most staff won’t be allowed or physically able on the system to go back to that date.
Most like the manager will send it over to an accounts team who will be able to process the refund at their end to your card or bank account.
Unfortunately most of their staff will have only just returned & will have scores of teams & sites with the same issues. Just like travel refunds it’ll take some time, they’ll be teething.0
