Hello,
Last year I bought a car from a dealer with a private plate, the previous owner did not want it.
I would now like to remove it and it should be replaced with the original number assigned to it, which I can do online at the DVLA website.
I should get a eV948 certificate to get the new plates made up straight away.
The question I have is what happens to the MOT certificate which has the old reg on, does that get re-issued, or do I have to request it from somewhere?
Thanks in advance

Why do you want it ? You do not need really need the MOT cert if you are keeping the car, all the records are on line and will  move across to the new number.  Not sure what you will get when printing off a copy from the MOT website once you have the new V5.
  • I don't think I needed it. It is not clear from the GOV website that the MOT gets transfered to link with the new number.
Just was unsure if it all linked together. Don't want to be stopped by the police for no valid MOT.

I wouldn't worry about it as they will be able to see when the plate changed and what the private plate was.
  • That's sorted then.
    Thanks all.
