    Yes! The bank has refunded me at last! Justice has been done! Happened very quickly after escalating to customer relations. Thank you for your advice and positive comments here. To the doubters here, I forgive you! I am honest and tenacious and justice has prevailed!
  • So it's two weeks since you posted on here that your bank was refusing to refund you, so it must be three or four weeks since you first asked for a refund from them.

    If you made it clear to them from the outset that it was a direct debit that you had not authorised (as simple as that) you should do as I suggested earlier and make a formal complaint to your bank pointing out to them that the staff in question obviously require retraining as this should have been resolved pretty much immediately.  This suggestion is not to help you but to protect future customers with similar problems.
