Pet insurance renewal is it legal?

Hi I am with Tesco for my pet insurance, really happy with the level of cover but it’s gone up by 50% for my multi pet policy. I spoke to Tesco and they said it because my “new customer discount“ has ended and that’s the reason for the increase.
I ran a quote at Tesco and it came up as the cheaper price from 12 months ago.
My question is if my wife got a quote with Tesco would that be legal? Would I be covered in the event something happens?

Possibly - assuming you declare any of the pre-existing conditions and previous claims...

Of course it would. Just ensure cover period doesnt overlap and answer all questions truthfully.0

My advice would be to take out a policy with a new company, and let the old one run another two weeks in case something happens (illness for the first two weeks is not covered on any policy provider, so you are covered and can then claim on old policy, cancel new etc).
However since you want to do this with the same company which first involves cancelling the old policy you would have no illness cover for the first 2 weeks. You would therefore not be covered for any illness arising in that time.
Tesco may also pick up on this and cancel either the policy or new customer discount.0 -
After a year that discount will disappear as well so now may be the time to check out other companies. but be aware all new policies give an introductory discount to get you to take out the policy, then , the second year you lose that discount and also have the annual increase in premiums so a double whammy.
However, if you have visited the vet for any reason, apart from routine vax etc, even if no treatment was given, that will count as a pre existing condition and be excluded from a new policy,
You also need to overlap cover as a new policy will have an exclusion period at the beginning.0
