Would you take voluntary redundancy during a pandemic if it meant you could move back 'home'?

Yes it's a hard one because I haven't spent any long periods there for many years.
But...would I rather be there in my old age than where I currently am? Absolutely yes, it's just come sooner than I expected. My parent and friend love it there and are super excited at the possibility of me moving, which is so sweet!
It's just horrible timing with the dire recession but yes I am the person who will do pretty much any job albeit hopefully temporarily....it just all felt so easy moving when I was younger but I've got a bit stuck in my life and comfort zone...or discomfort zone...
Going to have a conversation with my manager at work about my thoughts and see if hes prepared to offer remote working and if not at least he'll know where my thoughts are.
Wish me luck! I'll update...

frankly it sounds like you have decided its want you want
Now you just got to make it happen one way or the other
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine3 -

It was with huge trepidation I moved but end of the day Ive never been happier
. And if your signature is true to you, you will be just fine as leaving the big city allows you to stop the rat race 1 -
Yes that's a good word, trepidation.Apintplease said:

I'm not completely decided yet, but leaning towards escaping the rat race. So scary such a massive life change.
A friend at the weekend told me about a lady who died 29 days after taking retirement having deferred it 5 years to build up a bigger nest egg 😕😑Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!

You could always resort to flipping a coin. One side for the move and one side against and see how you feel when the coin lands.1

How has the town changed while you've been away ? I know of several seaside towns that were peaceful and quiet thirty years ago but are now overrun with daytrippers, hen and stag parties and holiday makers for much of the year....juliebunny said:Also, what would it be like going back to a hometown that I ran away from all those years ago because it was boring with no prospects? I'm older now and value a quiet life - I don't need nightclubs now so I guess it's a whole new world?

Probably have as much chance of getting it right!!!
The main problems are unemployment and drugs in some areas and bad economic situation off season but the NHS is a big employer there.p00hsticks said:
