B&Q Gift card refund WARNING

I placed an order online at B&Q and paid for it with a gift card

They have now cancelled my order but refuse to return the money on a gift card. I have to travel to the store and get a credit note! I have spoken with Customer services who are not at all helpful and cannot even tell me the terms and conditions of the credit note i.e. does it have to be used all at once, can it be used online how long is it valid for etc.

Very poor Customer Service from B&Q especially in these difficult times.

From the T&C of Gift Cards https://www.diy.com/customer-support/terms-and-conditions?tab=ui-accordion-title-17

"The value on a Gift Card cannot be exchanged for cash or refunded. Where B&Q agrees to provide a refund for products purchased using a Gift Card, the amount of the purchase price paid using that Gift Card will be reimbursed by way of a credit note for use in B&Q stores."

I assume they don’t have the technology to refund to a gift card. Not sure why they can’t just give you a new gift card though. Seems very weird.

I know this is an old thread but this is still a problem.

I ordered using giftcards recently and the Luton hub it was fulfilling from was out of stock so I asked for a refund.  I was issued a credit note via email that neither of my local stores will accept and they want me to go the hub to collect the paper copy. Currently escalated as a complaint but as it stands over £70 out of pocket.
