Ergonomic office chair refund query

My wife bought an ergonomic office chair as she suffers from posture problems which give her back ache and pain. The chair is adjustable on many levels and an extra facility was added to adjust the arms. It was also recovered with a different colour fabric. She purchased the chair from a local provider instore and collected it from the store herself. After using the chair for a couple of days she is finding it uncomfortable and it is giving her back ache despite trying many different adjustments. She now feels unable to use it. What are her rights to a refund given that the arms and fabric were replaced? There is actually a fault with the back adjustment mechanism which I feel sure they could easily fix but could we insist on a refund because of this fault? Thank you for any guidance.

Are the arms and fabric just optional extras that you selected to have (ie the item is "made to order") or is it something that isn't a standard offering and therefore its "bespoke"? Note that "bespoke" always sounds better so many use the term when its really just made to order.

If the item is under 30 days old you can seek to reject the item on the grounds that it is faulty, however the retailer is entitled to require you to prove it was faulty on delivery (ie a) its faulty and b) you didnt break it). After 30 days and before 6 months you no longer have the onus of proof but the retailer can decide how to proceed (repair, replace, refund) on the first attempt

Problem with back problems etc  is that a chair may be excellent for one but poor for another .
