What if you leave just before a country is removed from travel corridor and return from exempt place

Hi all,
On Friday evening, you leave a country that is on the travel corridor on Friday, and arrive in another safe country on the Friday evening.
On Saturday morning at 4AM, the country you left is now removed from the safe travel corridor. You return to the UK on Sunday from the safe country.
Would you still have to self isolate? Or are you ok because you only spent time in the country that was removed at 4AM whilst it was still on the travel corridor?

The website says you have to quarantine if you have been in a country in the last 14 days. But I assume this 14 days only starts at the time the country is removed from the list?0

Announcements aren't being made at 4 am in the morning. Little point in speculating about scenarios that don't exist.1Traveller said:

They announced last Thursday that countries would be removed at 4AM on the Saturday.Thrugelmir said:

That's the scenario I'm talking about - if you have left the country on the Friday anyway would you then not have to self isolate even if you are not back in the UK by 4AM?

No, but that is the time the regulations come in, or at least that has been the case the last few weeks.Thrugelmir said:

My understanding is that you would have to isolate, but only for 14 days from when you left the country concerned, not from when you got back to Britain.
The form you complete when you enter Britain is clear, you have to state the countries you have been to in the last 14 days.
That is why, when announcements are made, people rush home; they don't just rush for a border.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Thanks, this doesn't make much sense to me though. If someone leaves a country well before someone who leaves but returns to the UK does, the former person has to isolate but the latter person doesn't even though they've spent longer there/been there more recently? Basically, it is the rules that are in force when you come home that count.
"For example, if you arrive in the UK from a country that is exempt, but you travelled to the exempt country 4 days ago from a country that is not exempt you will need to self-isolate for 10 days. If you’re travelling to the UK for less than 10 days you will need to self-isolate for the length of your stay."I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Everyone is confused: https://fullfact.org/health/coronavirus-travel-quarantine-confusion/
Regulations like this are always going to have loopholes and things which don't make sense as they can never be written to take into account every possible circumstance.0 -
A travel corridor with France was one of the first proposed and people started asking questions about whether you could fly via Paris to avoid having to quarantine, so I think the government wanted to ensure that loophole didn't exist and didn't properly consider alternative scenarios where people go on trips visiting multiple countries, which is actually quite common for central European holidays.Doshwaster said:Everyone is confused: https://fullfact.org/health/coronavirus-travel-quarantine-confusion/
