Webcam query

I have been asked to use Camtasia Software to do a webcam job for a Mystery Shopping company to navigate a company's website. I'm a little
uncomfortable about doing this, as I haven't used webcams before and there seems to be lots of links to download the software. Can
anyone tell me if this software is safe (and free) and best link to use if so.
Thanks.

Camtasia is not 'webcam software'. It's a screen recording app which no doubt also records from webcams. I've not used it for about a decade from the days in used Adobe Flash, it was a properly legititmate app then and still seems to be owned by the same company so I'd have no qualms using it.There shouldn't be loads of links to download it, get it from Techsmith's website. And it most certainly is not free.1

It is a legit screen recorder. There are much better programs out there to do this (obs for example, which is free), but if thats the program they want you to use, then hey ho.
Sounds like they want you to record your screen while you navigate the website, so they can see the way you navigate it.1 -
Thanks to both. I see Techsmith's name comes up so I'll use that.Yes Dan, they do want to record my screen while I navigate the website. They pay a very small fee so it's maybe not worth my while taking the job on and for some reason they specifically want people to use Camtasia.0

Are they going to supply Camtasia (or a licence key for it)? If not and they expect you to pay for it, politely reject the job.1

Can't believe it! I've had a sticker over the camera lens of my laptop for ages and now I've taken it off it's left a film of sticky gunge which means I'm in soft focus (which at my age isn't a bad idea but can't imagine client would like it!) You wouldn't happen to know what I can use to clean it without damaging the lens?

Use a wet wipe - the type you'd use to clean spectacles. Then dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.1
