Fourth Anniversary Combo Breaker First Post

Hi, hoping somebody can give advice on a holiday booked pre covid. We paid a deposit in December last year for a golf holiday to mainland Spain coming up at the end of September. We paid the balance in mid June before spain was removed as a travel coridoor. The FCO is still recommending against all but essential travel and if you do travel you have to isolate for 14 days on return. If we decide not to go due to the self isolation on return, are we entitled to a refund ? I have seen the advice on here saying we wouldn't be entitled to a refund due to having to isolate but that doesn't seem clear. Surely the fact that the FCO advice is against all but essential travel should take precedence and we should be entitled to a refund. Confused.

Assuming the terms and conditions state it is not refundable, does your travel insurance cover cancelling re FCO advice? (although you may have to wait a bit longer as the advice may well change..as Portugal)
Have you checked whether the company is offering any reschedules?
  • Hi  Caz, I didn't take out travel insurance at the time and still don't have any. I assumed that the travel agent having abta and atol protection would have been enough insurance in case the holiday was cancelled by circumstances outside our control. They have said they will contact us from 7 days of our departure date as I am guessing they hope the travel restrictions on Spain will change. If it doesnt change i am guessing the options are go and quarantine, rebook it or lose everything. Its a bit of hobsons choice as some of the guys are self employed and have said no way can they afford to isolate on return.
