Child benefit questions

My dd has moved out and is refusing to come home. I have been told to cancel my child benefit for her but I want her to come home. A friend's told me that I don't have to allow any one else to claim child benefit on the online form. What does that mean?

If you are claiming child benefit then you have to give it up before anybody ls can claim it.
However,
Tell the Child Benefit Office straight away if your child:- starts paid work for 24 hours a week or more
- will live away from you for either 8 weeks in a row or more than 56 days in a 16-week period

Where she is staying they are staying she has been there 8 weeks but she only left here at tge end of July and for the first 2 weeks I was giving her money last time I gave her some was on the 4 August and that was £60 by bank transfer. So when I cancel it would I say that I was providing till the 4th because that's when the social services told me to stop giving money.
Thanks
