Hotel Cancelled, No Refund Offered Yet

Hi,
I'm looking for some advice on my package holiday to Tenerife that I booked back in January with Loveholidays. I was due to fly out next month but I have now been informed that my hotel will be closed for the dates of my stay. Loveholidays have told me that they are currently looking for alternative accommodation of equal or better quality, however I'd rather claim a refund than stay in a hotel that I did not book myself.
The terms and conditions state that I would be entitled to claim a refund if there is a 'significant' change to my package that I am unhappy with, but there is no definition for what a significant change would cover. What would my rights be in this situation? Can they force me to pay for a hotel that I didn't choose? They have also told me that they may not even get back to me until a week before I am due to fly, which obviously isn't ideal from a planning perspective!
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

They are offering what they are bound to do, supply accommodation of equal or greater value. If the flight is going and they offer as suggested then if you cancel it’s not eligible for refund.1

A hotel of same or better quality is not a significant change. A date or resort change would be.No free lunch, and no free laptop1
