Quote increased

We got a quote £5600, from a company for a lightweight replacement Leka roof for our conservatory which we accepted and paid a deposit of £1500. Company has now come back to us saying the glass panels have increased in price and they now want a further £1500 on top. They say if we don't pay the extra they will cancel and refund our deposit. Can they do this or are they obliged to honour the quote.
Thanks

If the work has not yet started, then they can cancel and refund.1

As above but that is one hell of an increase! At least your are getting all of your deposit back!Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'1

I've seen people quote more. New conservatory roofs seem to be all the rage.Clive_Woody said:£7100 for a replacement roof

You have to be prepared to make all sorts of grand promises about making it usable all year round, heat retention, light weight, soundproof, etc.....then charge like a wounded bullDoozergirl said:

If youre replacing a polycarb roof for glass . If youre having a glass roof . even themal active blue seems steep and the performance isn't much better going that route for a better insulated roof tbf . Glass has gone up in price recently but without knowing whats involved I cant work out how much the glass would havew been to start in costsClive_Woody said:£7100 for a replacement roof

7 grand for a roof????
You can buy a whole conservatory for that!
I would be running away but if you're happy with 5600 then tell them you're not prepared to pay any more than the original and see if they buckle.
I wonder if this just another tactic to get you to part with even more money0 -
I was quoted between £12k and £17k for replacing policarbonate roof with a solid one in a 4 x 5m conservatory so this is low in comparision, however I only checked approved installersClive_Woody said:£7100 for a replacement roof

If you cancel and get your money back - what will it cost to have it done by someone else?0
