Residential weekends with other households

Hi, I’m hoping for a bit of advice. I have two residential activity weekends a week apart booked pre-Covid. Both involve sharing accommodation with people outside of my household. The first weekend have contacted me to say we can no longer share rooms so a number of us will have to camp outside in individual tents (I have a bad back so not something I’m wanting to do). I contacted the second weekend and have advised them that we’re being told we can’t share rooms (I’m due to share with a friend) and do they have any updates around their weekend. They have said that we can share a bedroom and we can socially distance from other people in the rest of the accommodation (two lounge areas and approx 22 people). A lot of the activities will be inside as this is a wellness retreat (think food and mindfulness activities). It sounds like the only difference so far will be two meal time’s (at the shared dining table), but others will still be in the same room as it’s open plan. I can’t seem to find government guidlelines specifically around this kind of set up, and they are both taking a different approach. Firstly, do you think I can request a refund from the first one if my only option is to camp, as this isn’t what i signed up for? Secondly, are the other people right in saying me and my friend can share a bedroom, en-suite etc and we can be doing these activities indoors in a large group? Thanks in advance.

Thank you, but I can’t find specific guidance for my situation (I recognise that not everything is going to be covered). In the second weekend we are staying in a large house booked for the purposes of the weekend. I suppose I’m really after guidance as to whether this would work under the same premise as a hotel or b&b or if this would be classed as people from different households going on holiday together (which means that’s a definite ‘no’ due the number of different households going).

It seems to fall between the cracks!

So if you are in a bubble with the person you are sharing a room with then it is allowed.

Thank you for your reply. We’re not in a bubble.  From my understanding I could go and stay at her house, but rules advise social distancing so if I did do this I wouldn’t ideally be sharing a room with her. I also believe that households can only have one other household visit at any time. In this situation there’s going to be at least 15 households under the same roof all weekend. As it’s a rental property and not a hotel or b&b I’m unsure what the rules are around this.
