Scammed- Reclaiming from bank?

I got caught out by a trading/ investment scam 2 yrs ago, life's savings all gone, over 40k. Seeing others on TV having been refunded by their bank I applied to my bank santander to hopefully get even some of it back. Its been 18 months, if I ring up for an update they just say no update, they're very busy etc. Does anyone know how I can push it thru to even find out whether I will or won't get anything at all? I don't even know if they've thrown my case out, they won't tell me anything? Do hope someone has some advice I'm a very low income earner, even a portion back would be incredibly helpful...

You need to assume that you won't get anything back. Your money will have been quickly shifted elsewhere.

You could potentially escalate to FOS, but it's not going to make it any quicker.

It is worth noting that being a victim of a scam does not mean the bank refunds the money.    It is on money transfers where the bank is deemed not to have done enough to prevent it that they will consider a refund.

If you willing transferred money to an investment scam then that would not get you a refund from the bank.
