Covering oil stain on wall

In a freak bedtime incident I created a large face oil stain on my bedroom wall. I've optimistically tried emulsioning over it but that didn't help. Please can someone advise how to rectify this that doesn't involve learning to wallpaper? Thank you

You need some stain block. Zinsser is a good brand. Spray that on, then when dry emulsion over.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    The mind boggles.... :o
Use some alcohol to get as much of the oil off the wall as you can without spreading it around too much, Give the area a rub down with sand paper (I like using a sanding block) to get rid of the paint you've already applied. Give a coat or two of stain sealer as above, and once dry, paint with emulsion.

Make sure you use a good quality emulsion with high opacity , I would buy a trade white paint give it a couple of coats then go over it with the emulsion of your choice
