Is the property a flat and the land communal?
Pointless responding, the op vanished after asking.
  • leasehold means she leases the land. Therefore it is hers
Not sure how you know that unless you have read the actual lease.
Usually the lease covers the flat and demised areas. Any other areas are communal (hallways, communal outside areas). She may or may not have a lease that includes use of the land in front of the kitchen.
Regardless of that I wouldn't want someone else's smelly bins under my windows.
  • Leave a note on top of one of them -
Dear Mr Neighbour(ish). How kind of you to share your bins with me, I shall begin using them from a week on Monday.
    Yours cheerfully etc
I'm unsure about my spine, I think it's holding me back.
  • Hi All,
Im looking for some advise please for my neighbour.

She has recently moved into the end terrace house, she is the only one that rents in a line of 6 of us. The other side of houses next to me are older who own their house and have lived here for a very long time, my neighbour is the youngest that lives on the terrace and only one who rents.

The rest of the terrace seem to have an issue because she rents! Which I think is very wrong, hence me trying to help her.

We have allocated parking spaces out the back, it’s like a little track road full of pot holes etc. Well she has had a few issues with maggots in her bins, (the previous tenant melted the lids of her bins with disposable bbqs!) she has contacted the council and they still are “chasing up”

my neighbour has started Leaving her bins beside her 2 allocated parking spaces, it’s not blocking anyone, she’s not reserving her space for anything, there’s enough room for her car and bin on her space, the spaces are next to a 10ft high brick wall.

The “older” neighbours who don’t park anywhere near her, They park up their end up, have started giving her grief because “they don’t like the look of the bins when driving past” they have lived here for around 15-20 years and are all very clicky, let’s say. She’s also been told that “they keep their bins in their garden so she should” but she has 2 younger boys under the age of 5 and doesn’t want the bins in her garden until the council has arranged new lids.

I’m looking for advise to see if she is in the wrong or are the neighbours being petty?

    Thank you

Please start your own thread rather than tagging on to somebody else's query, it just causes confusion.

Lets just say the second word of my two word reply would be 'off'.
  • Just make sure you bag up anything that could attract flies until the council have sorted you out with new bins. Then no reason not to keep the bin in your garden and keep the old timers happy until they find something else to whine about.
