Selling, buying & what happens next?

I sold my house yey! (hopefully it goes through). The lady buying my house has cash and is using it as a second home no mortgage. She has told me she has completed her paperwork with the solicitors and I have completed all of mine too for the sale. Just waiting to hear updates now...

During this I had an offer accepted on a home, I rang the bank to proceed with application of mortgage, they are very busy and I can't get an appointment with a mortgage consultant until 3 weeks time! Does this mean there's also a huge backlog in valuations too? I can't apply online on my own because I'm porting the mortgage and the bank says I need to have an appointment to do this. I know what deal I want too, I'm a bit worried that I'm delaying this now as I have to wait 3 weeks... Maybe more.

I've got quotes for a home buyers survey and moving vans.

When is it reasonable to book in the home buyers survey? Am I rushing if I get it done before the mortgage appointment, incase the home is valued at less then I can't get a mortgage and I will have lost money which I know can happen. I offered 9k less than asking price and it was accepted.  Or should I let the estate agent know the situation so it doesn't look like I'm dragging my feet or not committing?

Also, I haven't heard anything about a survey being arranged on my house, maybe the lady won't have one? I don't know. Should I wait to hear more from their solicitor before I do anything next?

This is all new to me and I want to make sure I do it all right, but also not waste a lot of money. I'm not sure if I should be cautious and wait for my buyer to do something (but I don't know what) or should I just get on with proceeding with the purchase on my end?
