Debt Collectors on credit file

Hi Everyone
I was the victim of identity fraud last year and I have noticed that a debt collector has done a hard search on my credit file to chase debt that I dont owe. EE have shared my personal data with them and now I have a mark on my file from a debt collector. Is this search anything that I should be concerned about? I have emailed the company in question and asked them why they have done a search without my permission. Any ideas how the search can be removed?

Nobody looking at your file will see who performed the searches so it's irrelevant that it was a DCA who performed the search.
I'd be tempted to just leave it be as the impact of a hard search is basically 0 after 6 months and it sounds like it's even longer ago than that. Not worth the faffing around to try and get it removed.0 -
No worries, Im only concerned as I am completing on my mortgage in a week
cheers

I thought Debt Collectors couldn’t pull hard search he’s as they aren’t offering credit only soft searches where they can gauge address/affordability .. etc0

Thats what I thought. I have had a reply from the Debt Collectors saying they will ask for the search to be deleted by the relevant credit reference companies however I am not holding my breathe. These big companies are ruthless and people need to stand up to themadamp87 said:I thought Debt Collectors couldn’t pull hard search he’s as they aren’t offering credit only soft searches where they can gauge address/affordability .. etc

If you’ve got that in writing chase it up if it’s not changed in 1-2 monthsMattC1987 said:
