Can you advise please. I am 65 and disabled ... Me and many others stuffed by easyjet people using Southend, Stansted and Newcastle were contacted by easy jet saying with the Covid problems at the moment they understand if we wish to cancel our flights and receive a voucher to book for next Summer. A week later they stop all flights from those airports and now we have a voucher we can not claim a refund. Only use another airport. Newcastle nearest is Liverpool and Stansted and Southend Gatwick. They knew exactly what they were doing. So unfair and so wrong. !

On the face of it, there is little by way of a legal challenge that can be done as you swapped rather than taking the refund. But it looks more of an inadvertent sleight by Easyjet than a planned one.
You might want to take your complaint up with someone like the BBC Moneybox or a similar daily newspaper (The Chronicle) and have them make the suggestion that everyone takes the Easyjet refund and not the voucher. It will cost Easyjet a lot more processing flight refunds that way.
Or if you paid by Credit Card, you could try a section 75 refund and take the matter to the Financial Ombudsman. The Financial Conduct Authority has been on the lookout for this sort of inadvertent bias during the pandemic.
If you do get the issue resolved, I can't say it will be quick, but you might get some satisfaction by doing something rather than nothing.

For any company, the choice of either downsizing or going bust is really a no-brainer !
Be thankful you have a voucher that is actually worth something.0 -
Consultations about Easyjet closing bases began back at the end of June:But I do sympathise with your situation.

Be thankfulNever seen that term in a contract before. Is it new legislation?

Unlikely that call centre of staff knew of the announcement in advance. Has to be a cut off point somewhere. Though you'd think that Easyjet will address the issue in due course.0
