When you buy a TV from Richer Sounds you get a 6 year Warranty included at no additional cost.   It's a nice bonus, and I never expected to need to use it (modern TVs are quite reliable).

After 3 years my LG TV developed purple patches on the screen (caused by degradation of the phosphor in the backlight LEDs).   I contacted RS to find out about making a claim.   It was all very easy:

- I didn't need the receipt, they already had my details.

- All the contractor needed was a description of the fault and a photo of the serial number plate, and they ordered the spare parts.

- After a couple of weeks, the parts were in and they made an appointment for an Engineer to call.

- Engineer arrived - prompt, polite, friendly and properly equipped with tools, stands and spares.

- After an hour, the TV was fixed at no cost to me.

- They do charge £30 if you need them to take the TV off the wall, but I didn't need that.

Isn't it funny that if it's an RS post it will be praise. If only the same could be said for Currys or even John Lewis these days

I bought my Printer from Currys and it came with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty.   I even went back and successfully haggled for some money off when they reduced the model a week later.   But I wouldn't buy a TV there - no point.

I had similar issue with my Samsung TV which was nearing the end of it's 5 year warranty. John Lewis sent an engineer who replaced the screen at no cost.
