Inactive gift card

store didnt activate a giftcard when purchased and I dont have the activation receipt only a digital copy of the main receipt along with my other shopping, the store won't replace the cards with the proof of purchase they want the activation receipts, this is high value gift card what can I do, as its not fit for purpose

I don't think there's much you can do, because they might very well consider the possibility that you stole the card alongside the one you paid for and which is on your receipt.

Which retailer is it?

I've showed them proof of purchase its morrisons they even found the purchase on my more card! I have some of the activation receipts but not the matching ones

Does the proof of purchase relate to that actual card, though? If not, and it's just a general receipt for a gift card, rather than that gift card, you can see how that might be abused.

Pick up two, pocket one , pay for one and for the credit to be activated.  Then go back a while later with the stolen one, claim the credit wasn't activated, show the receipt for the purchased one and get the credit activated on the stolen one.  Rinse and repeat.

The fact you mention activation receipts (plural) suggests you buy multiples of these cards.  Is it possible you simply made a mistake at the shop?

I know what your saying but I did not steal these cards, I paid for them they did not get activated like they should have been

But you can see why Morrisons won't address it without the correct activation receipt.   Presumably the receipt ties the activation to that specific card, so without it, they can't tell an honest customer from a dishonest one.

To be brutally honest, I'm suspicious. You started this thread talking about one inactivated gift card.  Then it transpires you bought multiple gift cards but are lacking the activation receipt for one of them.  Now you're saying that more than one of "these cards" weren't activated.   

Your story has shifted rather quickly and it's starting to look like a pattern of errors by Morrisons.  Or something else.
