Service Plan issue

My elderly parents are both shielders and extremely high risk if they catch C19. They need to ensure that their car is safe and ready to drive if needed for hospital visits.
Their car is long overdue a service. They prepaid with their car dealer for a three year service plan because this included the option to have the vehicle collected and returned to the home for servicing.  They have just tried to book the service and have been told that this is no longer an option and they would have to sit in the office whilst waiting for the service.  Given that they are elderly and high C19 they are extremely worried at the prospect of this. The dealer still states on their website that this is still a feature of the service plan. Is anyone able to give advice on their rights with this please? Thanks in advance

Covid has altered everything. It'll come under force majeure so whilst yes it is in the contract the current situation means it's not something they're able to reasonably do. There is nothing to stop either your parents or someone in their bubble who has insurance to drive the car dropping it off then going somewhere for a meal or tea and scones and returning later to collect it. At my local dealers everyone drops the cars off between 8-9am and then they ring you when it's ready and you go and collect it.

You could do them a favour and take it in for them.

At least they didn't try and say no to the service because it is long overdue. That's exactly what happened when my dad took his car for a prepaid service which was due in April.

OP times have changed, you will need to find an alternative.  Drop and wait, or someone else takes it.

Covid is the excuse IMO -Event Mercs now do that you pay them 30 quid to collect and deliver even with a service paln as per our S class. They state they clean it to reduce the brisk of Covid.
Alternatively you could take it if you are insured to do so but watch out for third party cove

what make is it and model, please?

Annoyingly, that is a change that Ford have made and it is not related to COVID-19.  My wife always had her car collected and returned and, at last November's service, the "collect and return" option was withdrawn.  More a cost-saving issue, but COVID-19 now provides a convenient excuse.

Refunds aren't affected by COVID 19. If they won't provide the service that was paid for they should issue a full refund.

I think the service plans cost only covers the servicing at the garage.  The collection-and-drop-off is usually considered a "courtesy" service and, as it was therefore not paid for, can be withdrawn.

No its not! MB recently changed to that ie service plan you pay like we did recently but not before that.
Not familair with Fords, etc - the LR we take down as well as the 911 and VW R type.
