So like hundreds of others, I’m waiting for a refund for a trip cancelled by lastminute.com In March. They can’t be contacted - believe me I have tried over the last 5 months. I’ve just been told by the CBA that as lastminute.com are a Swiss company they follow the laws of Switzerland, not England, and there’s no advice they can give me as they can’t advise on the consumer laws of Switzerland. This doesn’t sound right, surely if they’re taking money from people in the UK our consumer rights should stand?!

What sort of "trip" ?
A package holiday? - and how did you pay ?0 -
Who are the CBA? if you are entitled to a refund then contact your bank and make a chargeback. You may want to provide some more information if you are hoping for advice on here i.e what was your 'trip"? who cancelled? etc.

Oh well, better hope they used a credit card.

It was a flight and hotel package to Amsterdam booked through lastminute.com due to happen over Easter - the flights were cancelled by British Airways and KLM but as it was booked through lastminute.com I have to claim through them. They notified me on 23 March that the holiday was cancelled. By CBA I mean the Citizens Advice Bureau - they said that UK consumer rights don’t apply to lastminute.com because they’re a Swiss company, but I wanted clarification as it doesn’t sound right.0

Credit card may be complicated by having involved a third party as well.

They basically took the money from my bank account - as I understand it you can only make a claim if you paid by credit card.0

I doubt they just took the money from your bank account, but you should have had an email from LM giving you 3 options, cash refund, credit note or vouchers. Have you has this? When you log into your account what does it say against your booking?0

They used my debit card details that I’d used to pay the deposit to take the remaining balance for the trip, so effectively took the money. That’s not really the problem. The internet is rife with people who have, like me, been waiting months for a refund from them. I’ve sent loads of emails, they don’t reply and they don’t accept calls - there’s a recorded message and you get cut off. When it was cancelled they said I’d get a credit note but I made it clear that I want a refund. I’m just trying to establish what my rights are with this company and the fact that they are based in Switzerland0
