Is there much discretion for banks to remove missed payments on credit record?

Why would they remove an accurate report on what happened?

Well if it were Amex who pride themselves on customer service then they have been known to remove missed payments
As an aside It is nonsense to as others suggest that any credit granter has to report anything
For instance my understanding is that if less than £5.00 is not paid off  on a Barclaycard then no reports are made

As a one off goodwill gesture, maybe so. They arent going to do this every single time.

    Nobody has said that though.

What has been said is that whatever is reported has to be accurate, which is entirely different.  Not reporting anything is a matter of what's said in the contract between the lender and the CRA.  If they're allowed to selectively report then that's fine.  If they're not then the CRA may take action.

You need to write to them and sort it out. Templates are available online
