    Hi All,
Me and the Mrs are due to be moving out Next Friday - we're moving into my parents for a couple of weeks until we get the keys to our new house.
What am I required to do in relation to changing my address with the DVLA? It's £14 every time to change your address, surely i'm not expected to change address within quick succession of each other?
For the sake of a couple of weeks and with a redirect in place I wouldn't bother - there is usually a grace period for these things.Plus it can take 3 -4 weeks for the new licence to come!

There has never been a charge for moving house and getting a new driving license, unless you are upgrading from a paper one for the first time. Mine have never taken more than 3 working days.....

3-4 weeks? Try months. I sent off my licence almost 4 months ago and am still waiting for it. Records show that the address was changed at the end of July (9 weeks after I sent it off) but I’m still waiting for it. We move again in a couple of months 🤦🏽‍♀️They’re massively behind at the moment. I think they’re prioritising ones due to expire but that’s it.

Andy if it’s only a matter of a few weeks, I would just do your redirection from your old address and then when you move change the details then.

Just to add, I think it’s because I sent it off, I didn’t realise you could do it online at that point.
