Free Boiler from Home Efficiency Surveys

Just had a cold caller at the door from https://www.homeefficiencysurveys.com/

They're based in Glasgow offering think  They install boiler

• brand new boiler 10 yr guarantee!
  
• Magnetic Cleanse
• Magnetic Filter
• Digital Controller
• 10 years full boiler cover

The package is they install boiler and then take care of all my gas bills  saving me money . I think they look for the energy deals and then charge me plus a little to recoup the cost of boiler and service contract.

Obviously  that's the catch  and by signing up to a 10 year contract to cover the life of the boiler I don't know that as they're coming to Survey my house next week. Dont worry I wont sign a thing 

Has any one had any dealings with them?

There's no catch.  The manufacturer's staff all work for nothing because they're such nice people.  So are their suppliers, they give them all the raw materials free of charge.  Ditto, their installers, the smile on your face is the only reward they seek.

And as to being forced to accept a pig in a poke gas tariff and a 10-year maintenance contract, well, what could possibly go wrong?  You'll probably get all your gas free of charge as well, they probably know some nice gas suppliers.

Digital Controller, wow. Do you get a free pen as well? Were you in the market for the most expensive way to buy a boiler? If not, why invite them in?

Seriously, buy a boiler from a respectable local installer and arrange your own gas supply.

What happens if you decide that you're not quite so thrilled with a gas tariff of 50p/kWh and a standing charge of 10p/hour?  Are you stuck with it for 10 years?

There are Warmer Homes Scotland schemes, either grant funded or a loan. You might be better to go through EST rather than a boiler company, as there may be other things you can get help with.

NO NO.

If your boiler is kaput and you qualify, contact your energy company.

A friend was conned, free heaters and save on energy. Load of rubbish.

Ended up having to spend out over £1000 or freeze. 

Unqualified rubbish sparky appeared, ripped out 4 good heaters in minutes, installed 2 rubbish Spanish heaters and 2 Power heaters?????

Beware these bait web sites and cold callers.

Contact your energy company.

I would cancel the survey now.

If you qualify for a free boiler under one of the schemes you can get it without having to sign up for a mysterious 10 year tariff lock-in.

Unless you enjoy pressure selling don't let these people back into your home under any circumstances.

I would also contact your current energy provider and ask them to put a block on any switch requests until further notice as these doorstep cold callers are prone to switching you regardless of you signing anything or not.
