STA Travel - latest Covid casualty?

The future of STA Travel is under threat after its parent company plans to file for administration.

STA holds an ATOL licence to make and sell 34,000 "packaged" holiday sales per year. Thousands more of course will be non-packaged, non-ATOL protected flight only sales.
52 shops in the U.K. and hundreds of British jobs at risk. Very sad.

Been in the game years and are a reputable agent. Big name, will be sad if they go. Just goes to show how devastating this crisis will be for the travel industry.0

There were redundancies at the end of 2019 so I suspect Covid19 was just the final straw but may not have been the real cause. I suspect few if any students booked to travel this summer and there may be few advance bookings to deal with, mainly flight only I suspect, but again huge numbers of staff out of work if the UK side isn't rescued0

We were traveling with them this year but due to covid our holiday was cancelled and we were in the process of arranging it for next year and at no time did they say there was a problem so l guess we will lose out on the money they had as our refund.Stash Busting Challenge 2016 6/520

We were due to travel in August this year and had already moved to August 2021as a result of COVID-19. Just checked our ATOL certificate and it says it covers flight and tour so hoping we will get a refund.0

If you booked a package through STA Travel and have an ATOL certificate you fortunately have a financially protected holiday arrangement. You will be able to claim a refund from the CAA. Give it a few days and check the STA and/or CAA website for claim information.
