Parents' Christmas Card - Sister's boyfriend wants to sign

Hi,

I live with my husband and sister. We normally send a Christmas card from the 3 of us to my parents (who are from and live overseas), but she has had a boyfriend for about one month now and wants him to sign the card too. They haven't met him yet, due to the distance etc.

Is this ok? It just seems a bit odd to me as it's a "Mum and Dad" card, or am I just overreacting? I said "Yes" when she asked as I felt a bit cornered at the time to be honest.

Thanks,
Gris

Well they aren't your husbands parents but he still signs the card.

It just a Xmas card does it really matter??

  • Why not just send a card from each couple. Put them in same envelope if postage is an issue.

It would be better to send 2 Christmas cards, one from each of the 2 couples.

reehsetin, Christmas cards are not part of the Christian religion. They date back only as far as Victorian times, when the 'Penny Post' was invented and they were a good way of getting people used to the post. You have to search nowadays to find any Christmas cards that have any reference to Christianity - robins, snow scenes, you name it.

Yea that is a tad wierd.

I was a bit weary of signing cards from me and my boyfriend, even now and weve been together for over 2 years!

They've only been together a month - it's probably just their enthusiasm at being a new couple! A christmas card isn't a big deal, but if it bothers you just send a card from each couple.

my OH and I had only been together about a month when our first christmas rolled around, and I signed all our cards from us both as a matter of course. He didn't actually meet either of my grandmothers for another three years!

I think its a personal choice myself, ditto what the last poster said
