Any Green Financial Help for Vented hot water tanks?

I live in a flat on Economy 7 heated by electric storage heaters.  The hot water is done by a hot water tank so that's for washing up and baths since the property also has an electric shower.  My hot water tank has now tripped my fuse box and won't work so I currently have no hot water.
I've phoned EON about help as it said I qualified when I filled in their form however they said they only helped with gas boilers and were nothing to do with electric.
I am wondering if there is any green deal type help for replacing Vented Cylinders, or if I can take advantage of any free deal to replace the current set up with a combi boiler?
My flat is on the market to sell so I am looking for the cheapest option in repairing or replacing so any advice is appreciated.

If you've got a normal unvented cylinder then all it needs is a replacement immersion heater - they aren't ever so expensive and are easy to change - there you go https://www.mrcentralheating.co.uk/everflo-3kw-immersion-heater you just need a plumber or a handyman to fit it.
    Even cheaper from Screwfix https://www.screwfix.com/c/heating-plumbing/immersion-heaters/cat830986#:~:text=Immersion%20heaters%20are%20electric%20heating,able%20to%20get%20hot%20water.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
  • It's direct vented, would the same still apply?
1400 x 450 Grade 3 Part L Compliant Maxistore Direct Combi **** (unreadable) it says on the very faded paperwork from 18 years ago.
I do have a guy getting back to me about diagnosing and giving a quote.

Not so expensive is relative when you are a medically retired veteran struggling pay a mortgage and run a house, that's why I was interested in any grants available as I know they will try to talk me into replacing the whole thing.

Have you tried resetting the circuit breaker, or does it trip repeatedly?
An instantaneous electric shower is a very bad idea because not only are you using expensive daytime electricity, the E7 day rate is more expensive than single rate.  Far better to use just the immersion heater on E7 cheap rate, that's why you have a hot tank in the first place !
  • Sadly it keeps tripping Gerry.

And I agree 100% the place doesn't have an ideal set up, when I was serving I wasn't living here and to be honest had zero knowledge about that sort of stuff as a first time buyer back then.

It's only since discharge and living here the past few years I am realising it was so bad with my electricity bill approaching £60 a month for a single person in a 2 bed flat.  I got new storage heaters fitted thankfully as part of the grant 2 years ago since 2 of them were broken, and new loft insulation.

It's pretty typical of my luck that I just put this on the market to sell last week to downsize and now my water tank decides to go belly up.  I am torn between replacing it but I doubt it would add any value, fixing it, or hiding the fact it's broken and just using the kettle for washing up.  However the estate agent has made it clear I need to be honest about anything broken in my flat prior to selling.

Your water tank is going to be just fine, it is just one (or both) of the immersion heaters, or even just their wiring, that needs attention.
Ask around for a trustworthy plumber and it should be a relatively cheap job, and in the context of a house sale it isn't really something you can avoid sorting out.
