Newbie looking to rent in Glasgow West End

Next spring/summer I hope to move from London to Glasgow to rent in the West End area. Hyndland appeals and I think I can afford to rent a 2-bed tenement there. I haven't been a tenant since the last century, so I've browsed the Shelter Scotland website for basic advice on renting in Scotland, but would welcome suggestions from folk on here on how to proceed. I'll be in Glasgow end September for a brief research trip. I have friends up there but like me, they are decades away from having been tenants so the tenants-eye view on this would be really helpful.

It’s pretty straightforward. View some properties you like the look of and then apply to rent it.Tustastic said:Next spring/summer I hope to move from London to Glasgow to rent in the West End area. Hyndland is lovely. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare around there, most of the streets are permit parking so if you need a space I would look into how much a permit would cost. It won't be anything compared to London permit prices though, I used to have a permit for Yorkhill (just down the road from Hyndland) and that was £50/year (though that was a few years ago now).

The West End will probably be expensive. Very bohemian and high student numbers too. It's a lovely part of Glasgow and so very popular.
Maybe look to Finnieston or even Dennistoun - some great properties in the once unfashionable East End. All very hippy now!
